From Data to Decisions

Power Platform’s Business Impact

When customers began asking for smarter ways to work with data, Mathias Andersen quickly realized the potential. What started as tailor-made Power BI solutions soon evolved into a broader mission – and into his current role as Power Platform Specialist at TRIMIT.

“It motivates me to make things smarter for customers – to give them insights they can act on, not just numbers on a screen,” he says.

Why Power Platform?

For Mathias, the Power Platform is more than a set of tools – it’s a way to bridge technology and business. By combining Power BI, Power Apps, and Power Automate, companies gain the ability to:

Turn raw data into clear insights – like transforming credit memos into actionable insights, spotting sales patterns that reveal upsell opportunities or early signs of customer churn. Even something as simple as a daily margin and revenue overview.
Build intuitive apps that make daily work easier - from logging material use in seconds to handling inventory without expensive systems, even down to a quick lunch registration that keeps the canteen waste-free.
Automate manual tasks and save valuable time – like collecting data from multiple systems, creating invoices from emails or automating welcome emails for new hires.

The result is faster processes, better decisions, and a level of transparency that spreadsheets alone can’t deliver.

From Data Quality to Business Conversations

In many projects, the first big “aha moment” comes when BI reveals issues with data quality. Companies often discover that large parts of their revenue are tied to “blank” categories simply because product groups haven’t been maintained.

“When customers see that, they realize how much more value they can get once their data is in order,” Mathias explains.

And the impact doesn’t stop there. New dashboards often spark broader business conversations: How should team performance be defined? Are the right KPIs in place? BI not only shows numbers – it challenges organizations to rethink how they measure and manage success.

Built with Customers, for Customers

Over time, TRIMIT Power Platform has moved from custom projects to standardized packages like Finance and Operations, enabling companies to get started more quickly and cost-effectively. But standard doesn’t mean static – customer collaboration is at the heart of every development.

“We build on our customers’ input and real-life experiences. When they share what works – or what doesn’t – it gives us the chance to create solutions with real value. For me, that’s one of the most rewarding parts of the job,” says Mathias.

A great example is the Finance package, which was shaped directly by customer feedback:

“A customer took the initiative and shared their concrete needs. Together we translated them into a clear data model, baseline KPIs, and ready-to-use dashboards, which became the foundation of our new Finance package.

It’s inspiring to work that way — creating something together that benefits not just one company, but many,” he adds.

The way companies use BI is evolving. It’s no longer only about sales figures. Today, many are turning their focus to delivery reliability – both to customers and from suppliers. This reflects a broader trend: BI is becoming a critical driver of operational efficiency and long-term business development.

“It’s about making data smarter and more accessible – so it becomes a driver for better business decisions,” Mathias concludes.

Mathias’ five practical pointers to get value fast

Start with one decision you want to improve, then design the report or app around that decision.
Fix the most-used data first (item groups, customer segments, units of measure). Small clean-ups pay off quickly.

Automate one repetitive step – confirmations, reminders, or status updates – before you scale automation.

Build with the people who will use it. Short feedback loops beat long requirement lists.
Measure the effect: time saved, fewer manual steps, or faster lead times – and iterate monthly.
